Constipation During Cancer Treatment

The #1 Medication-Free Way to Soothe Constipation During Cancer Treatment

Chemotherapy, radiation, and surgery are commonplace when you are a cancer patient, but what nobody seems to talk about are the side effects of these cancer treatments. Treating constipation during cancer treatment is one of the most common concerns I get from cancer patients who work with me in Pelvic Floor Physical Therapy.

When you report constipation during cancer treatment to your oncologist or primary care provider, they typically tell you that constipation during cancer treatment is par for the course. However, this is not the case!

There are ways to solve your pooping problem without medication. Before you hop on over to your local drug store or just “suck it up” for another day, watch the video below and learn a massage technique that can be tailored to either slow down or speed up your digestive process.

Working with a Pelvic Floor Physical Therapist to Help Soothe Constipation During Cancer Treatment

When approaching any pelvic health issue, such as constipation during cancer treatment, I strongly recommend that you find a physical therapist that is right for you before you attempt self-treatment so that you do not make issues worse (perhaps by doing Kegel exercises that can only exacerbate pelvic floor tension symptoms).

If you’re having trouble treating constipation during cancer treatment on your own, need help getting a diagnosis, or creating an effective treatment plan, find a pelvic floor physical therapist.
