Virtual vs. physical mentorships

Depending on your unique needs, availability, and location, you can opt for either in-person mentoring sessions or virtual mentoring. These will differ slightly, as outlined below:

With an in-person mentorship, manual techniques are more hands-on, as they can be practiced while they are taught. If you are able to coordinate a model via a friend, family member, or patient, they can come in and these techniques can be practiced alongside Dr. Meihofer’s guidance. This will help you learn how to perform a comprehensive evaluation, as well as expand your techniques and fine tune your skills when performing internal, external, abdominal, back, or hip techniques.

With virtual mentorship sessions, techniques are verbally explained or taught, as Dr. Meihofer will not be physically present to lead you through it. However, in many cases she is able to provide resources or videos for further demonstration.

Outside of practicing manual techniques, there are many other topics that don’t necessarily have to be in-person, such as treatment plan programming, creating home exercises programs, and business-related topics!

Crafting your unique program

Each professional’s goals will vary, making each and every person’s mentorship experience unique. The first step of the mentoring program is to identify a few different factors:

  1. Your area of concern: What topics are you looking to improve in, or what aspects of physical therapy / business do you struggle with?
  2. After establishing what it is you wish to learn or improve on, you’ll also want to figure out how much help are you looking for. Do you need simple guidance such as having your questions answered, being pushed in the right direction, and given useful resources—or a more thorough, hands-on approach working from the ground up?
  3. Where are you or your company located?
  4. How much do you want to invest in this mentorship? (both financially and from a time perspective)

These four points will help craft your mentorship program. It will help decide how in-depth and how long your sessions will need to be, as well as whether you are better suited to in-person or virtual meetings. These questions can help Dr. Meihofer determine the number of visits that may be necessary to achieve your goals.

Dr. Meihofer’s mentorship services are priced the same as her regular services in 60-minute sessions. There are package options available for mentoring as well, which may be a more cost-effective option for you depending on your needs. Feel free to explore the cost page for more information!
