Intensive Pelvic Floor Physical Therapy

Intensive Pelvic Floor Physical Therapy

Dr. Laura Meihofer offers an intensive physical therapy program to US residents and international patients who will travel to Minnesota for pelvic floor dysfunction treatment. This intensive program focuses on relieving your immediate symptoms with two treatment sessions per day and crafting a sustainable self-care program so you can continue to build on your gains when you return home.

Pelvic floor dysfunction affects people of all ages and it can be difficult to find an experienced local specialist to treat your unique condition. Whether it’s chronic constipation, pelvic floor dyssynergia, pelvic organ prolapse, incontinence, pelvic pain, pain with intercourse, post-surgical conditions, preparing for childbirth, postpartum recovery, or other dysfunctions, Dr. Laura Meihofer has treated it all and then some. Pelvic floor dysfunction is not normal, but it is common and more importantly, treatable! With the combination of the right pelvic floor specialist and your determination, you can improve your quality of life.

Intensive pelvic floor physical therapy is suitable for patients who want to jumpstart their therapy, see results fast, or who are looking for a highly tailored program for their needs. With this program, you will get more focused sessions within a shorter amount of time, rather than engaging in a standard or long-term schedule of in-person sessions.

This shorter time frame and specialized care makes the program a great option for patients who do not have access to specialized or expert care in their area, have “failed” at pelvic floor physical therapy previously, have complex or long-lasting conditions, or who just want to accelerate their healing journey. By stepping away from your usual schedule and completely focusing your attention on your health, you can reach your goals more easily with this more intense therapy program.

Similar intensive physical therapy programs have waiting lists that are months long. Dr. Laura Meihofer is actively accepting new patients! Not sure if she’s the right provider for you? Read more about her!

Dr. Laura Meihofer is an out-of-network provider and does not accept insurance including Medicaid or Medicare. You are responsible for full payment at the time of services. Documentation for out-of-network insurance benefits will be provided upon request. Please note travel, lodging, ground transportation, and fees associated with staying in Minnesota are not included. How Intensive Pelvic Therapy Works

Start With a Telehealth Consultation

This customized program begins with a 60-minute telehealth consultation to discuss your medical history, pelvic floor dysfunction diagnosis, symptoms, and pelvic health goals. Dr. Meihofer will provide an assessment and action plan following this call to maximize the time you spend with her in-person.

In-Person Intensive Pelvic Floor Physical Therapy Treatment

You will see Dr. Meihofer for treatment two times per day during your program. Your first session will be a 60-minute initial evaluation (unless you already participated in the telehealth consultation). Each following session will be 60 minutes long.

Each session will include one or more of the following: manual therapy, neuromuscular reeducation, therapeutic activities, therapeutic exercises, and modalities. Your program will also include self-care techniques, stretching and exercise programs, and a plan to work with your local practitioners at home for continued progress if necessary. In addition to physical therapy, Dr. Meihofer will help you better understand your condition and provide tools for long-lasting results.

You (and your partner or parent, if applicable) will walk away with a thorough and comprehensive care plan that includes at-home practice or changes; involving extensive exercises such as strengthening, stretching, breathing, modality application if appropriate, self mobilization techniques, and so much more!
