Dr. Laura Meihofer offers an intensive physical therapy program to US and international residents who will travel to Rochester, Minnesota for pelvic floor dysfunction treatment.  This program focuses on relieving your immediate symptoms with two treatment sessions per day and crafting a sustainable self-care program so you can continue to build on your gains when you return home.

 

Pelvic floor dysfunction affects people of all ages and it can be difficult to find an experienced local specialist to treat your pelvic floor dysfunction condition. Whether it’s chronic constipation, pelvic floor dyssynergia, pelvic organ prolapse, rectocele, incontinence, trauma injuries, post surgical conditions, preparing for childbirth or postpartum recovery, Dr. Laura Meihofer has treated it all and then some. Pelvic floor dysfunction is normal and common but it is treatable. With the combination of the right pelvic floor specialist and your determination, you can improve your quality of life.

 

The length and content of your program is customized to your condition and wellness goals. Each session will include manual therapy, neuromuscular reeducation, therapeutic activities, therapeutic exercises and modalities. Your program will also include self-care techniques, stretching & exercise programs and a plan to work with your local practitioners at home for continued progress. In addition to physical therapy, Laura will help you better understand your condition and provide tools for long lasting results.

Dr. Laura Meihofer is an out-of-network provider and does not accept insurance including Medicaid or Medicare. You are responsible for full payment at the time of services. Documentation for out-of-network insurance benefits will be provided upon request. The Rochester International Airport (RST) is a quick 15 minute drive away from Laura’s office. The Minneapolis, Minnesota area is about 90 minutes away. Shuttles to and from Rochester are easily accessible. Laura is happy to provide local lodging and activity information for you and/or your family during your stay.

How It Works

PROGRAM OVERVIEW

 

Remote Consultation

This customized program begins with a 1-hour remote consultation to discuss your medical history, pelvic floor dysfunction diagnosis, symptoms and pelvic health goals. Laura will provide an assessment and action plan following this call to maximize the time you spend with her in person.

 

In-Person Treatment 

You will see Laura for treatment two times per day during your program. Your first session will be a 90-minute initial evaluation. Each following session will be a 45 minutes.  Treatment will include a combination of manual therapy, neuromuscular reeducation, therapeutic activities, therapeutic exercise and modalities depending on your needs. You (and your significant other, if applicable) will learn self-care techniques to use at home to continue your progress.

Follow-up

Questions always come up when you return home. 45-minute follow up calls will be scheduled for 2 weeks and 6 weeks after you return home. Laura is always available by email to answer your questions before, in between and after those calls. Her online resources are also available for additional support.
